Wonderments 8-12

  1. wonder if we are measuring what we think we are measuring when we assess students using activities such as presentations or discussions. I often thing we end up measuring professional presentation and interpersonal communication skills only.

  2. I wonder how to perform a needs assessment to determine what department chairs need from a faculty evaluation process.
  3. I wonder about the effect of periodic self-assessments throughout a program of study on students’ development of practice-based learning and assessment skills.
  4. I wonder at what point does survey fatigue kick in. How do we optimally get information from students without surveying them to death?
  5. I wonder how much active learning is enough. Where do the benefits kick in, is it 20% is it 80%. If I were to try and transform a program into a more active learning focus, what should be the goal.
