Wonderments 22-25

I wonder if interventions to increase diversity in medical school faculty and administrators primarily targeting physicians?  I wonder if minority and women non-physician administrators and faculty have the same rate of promotion, leadership opportunities, and retention as physician faculty and administrators in a medical school setting? I wonder how is the experience of non-physician faculty and administrators in a medical school different from physician faculty and administrators?   I wonder how to bridge the gap between PhD, EDD, and MD in a medical school setting so that each feels valued.

Wonderment 13-21

I wonder how to analyze organizational culture as it relates to bias. There are tools to measure bias, but they aren’t generally shared with others and are for personal use. So how do you measure bias in a culture as a whole?   I wonder how to measure perceptions of non-physician faculty at a medical school regarding their sense of value? It seems that any questions one would ask would lead the survey participant in some way.   I wonder if interventions work on reducing gender discrimination. The Hidden Curriculum of Compassionate Care: Can Assessment Drive Compassion?.  Academic medicine : journal of the Association of American Medical Colleges ,  94 (8), 1164–1169. https://doi.org/10.1097/ACM.0000000000002773 I wonder how to perform a needs assessment to determine what department chairs need from a faculty evaluation process. I wonder about the effect of periodic self-assessments throughout a program of study on students’ development of practice-based learning and assessment skills. I wonder at what point does survey fatigue kick in. How do we optimally get information from students without surveying them to death? I wonder how much active learning is enough. Whe...
